London Design Week Festival (16/09/17 – 24/09/17)

Well… I actually forgot to write this post up on for Thursday. Life is just a hectic mess that I shall expand upon in the return of Uni Life (my iconic comic strip series).

Four weeks ago it was London design week, I was not aware of this until I was intrigued by a friend’s Instagram story post. After a busy-ish week two other friends of mine posted similarly artsy displays on Saturday.

Sunday rolled up and I wanted a slice of some interesting artsy pictures.

Little did I know that it was the final day for all of the exhibitions. I definitely had to cover at least one venue that participated in this London-wide event.

The lucky venue was Somerset House in central London. The V&A also participated but I only had one day for one venue. It was a difficult choice.

We  were welcomed by an arrangement of big spheres in the centre of the courtyard. The exact same courtyard that was used to host Somerset House Summer Series.

However, we explored the rest of the exhibitions inside the various rooms.

There was a diverse collection on display, from cars, clothing to giant stuffed animals and self producing art.

All of which, were all interesting and beautiful in their own individual right.

It was not until the very end of our journey that I realised what the big spheres in the courtyard were for. Behind them were two large solar powered machines. Two of the spheres were made out of metal netting filled with plastic bottles.

These bottles were then recycled using the massive machines to form the tiles that were placed on the black Velcro covered spheres.

It was a delightful and casual day out with the family.

Until next time,
