[Geography Tour] Tom Misch @ Roundhouse (08/03/2018)

Why isn’t it one of my fellow South Londinian, Tom Misch, again?

After my past two posts about his performances in Somerset House & Jazz Cafe. It is quite clear that I am rather fond of his work.

His Somerset Summer Series set is still undoubtedly one of the best performances I have ever witnessed. Intimate, tight and fun collective bopping and grooving – the intimacy was further amplified in Jazz Cafe.

Now, we in the much larger Roundhouse in Camden. He was building hype up his upcoming album launch from his very own independent label company, Beyond The Groove. I don’t buy albums too often but I pre-ordered Geography as well as other merch as soon as they were announced.

Geography is perfect for the incoming British summer. I have repeated each and every song multiple times – all of which are available on his YouTube channel.

I started queuing up/chilling around Roundhouse three hours prior to the doors opening at 7PM. This gives me a guarantee a barrier spot as well as a chance to chat to the staff. I befriended a charming and wise Collins, a security guard, who has obviously met more celebrities than one can count.

Everyone all have a story of their own. We are all human and so are celebrities therefore we treat them as such.

While conversing with Collins, Polly Misch, Tom’s actress sister happened to pop out to get some yoga done before the gig starts. The three of us had a casual conversation and that has more significance than a picture. She would reappear as the vocal intro and back up singer for Movie.

Little did I know, Laura Misch, the saxy sister (she plays the saxophone) happened to be the first act. Let’s just say she was mesmerising as the live visuals projected on the floating orb behind her.

Tom Misch proceeds to plays his tracks on his album. There were sprinkles his older hits with their respective talented artists.

I loved them all.

The night wrapped up with the timeless groovy Watch Me Dance.

It was stunning night to celebrate Tom’s success but the full essence of his music is much better suited for smaller venues. (No offense Roundhouse).

Until Next Time,

    1. Awww sorry to hear that, I saw him once last year and now I ‘m getting to see him for the fourth time at Brixton…

It’s tough but always keep on the look out on his social media – he is a South London boy so he does perform in lowkey places for free :3
